The air conditioning system has even more to offer. Alongside the pleasant coolness on hot days, it makes sure the air inside the vehicle is dehumidified quickly. In other words misted up windows are cleared quicker. The very pleasant side effect is that the dehumidified air in the vehicle is more pleasant and better for your health.
With your health in mind you should have your air conditioning system serviced at regular intervals (normally every 2 years).
The evaporator – regular disinfection
It’s here that bacteria, spore and micro-organisms like to breed. These enter the interior through the ventilation system and can cause unpleasant allergic reactions in some people.
Interior filter (pollen) – regular replacement
This filter is particularly important for clean air inside the vehicle. It filters pollen, dust, dirt and many other impurities. The interior filter should be replaced once a year or every 12,000 miles.
Regular servicing
Every year your air conditioning system can lose up to 10% of the refrigerant while also air and humidity can enter the system. Having your air conditioning system serviced and re-gassed every 2 years will ensure the system is working in top condition. Not keeping the system serviced can result in expensive components failing, for example having a damaged compressor replaced and associated components can quickly run up an expensive repair bill.
